2020 Season update CORONAVIRUS

18 Mar 2020

Just a quick update for everyone as the Coronavirus hits home for everbody .

Firstly I hope that all our members , families and friends are safe and following guidelines offered by the experts .

Obviously this had had a massive effect worldwide and we as a Cricket Club in sunny Tameside do not escape the consequences . We have taken the decision to close the cricket club to its members and visitors until further notice . Any functions booked for the next couple of months have unfortunately had to be cancelled and those involved have all been informed and fully supportive despite the obvious disappointment , but we as individuals and as a club have a 'duty of care' and everyone's safety is paramount and overides any inconvenience or financial implications our closure and such cancellations will cause . It will be a tough time for the club but if we all stick together Im sure we can get through and I know  we can count on your support when everything is back in place , up and running once again .

When that will be none of us know but as stated previously we will support and follow guidelines offered by the powers that be .This leads me on to the actual cricket side of things . The GMCL have very wisely taken the decision to postpone the season until at least the end of May and will guide us as time passes . If it becomes clear that we can actually start to play any cricket this year , the format will be decided nearer the time , maybe in the form of mini leagues or cup competitions but again all this is to be confirmed if and when the situation arises . What has been made clear to us is that regardless of these proposed 'games' in 2020 ,all current league positions/divisions will remain as they are now for the 2021 season .

Once we have any further updates we will let you know , but in the meantime stay safe and look after each other !
