We are sad to report the passing of our much-loved President Alan Urmston on New Year’s Eve.
Alan or “AU” as we all knew him, has driven our club forward for many years, from introducing and captaining our first competitive Sunday XI playing regular fixtures each week in the North Cheshire Federation back in the 80s and 90s, to being a great committee member and forward-looking chairman and latterly of course as our Honorary President, a role which he took on with great gusto and with great pride.
AU will be remembered as one of our club greats, one of our “legends”, giving up his time and energy with the support of his late wife Anne to make ‘our place’ a better place for all our members.
Our thoughts are with David and Janice and their families.
It is a good time to recall the chorus of one of Alan and Anne’s favourite songs- “Always” by Irving Berlin
“Days may not be fair, always,
That's when I'll be there, always.
Not for just an hour,
Not for just a day,
Not for just a year,
