Jean Senior

15 Mar 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we record the loss of another great stalwart of the club with the passing of Jean Senior.

Jean has probably seen more games of cricket played by West than anyone ever has because Eric, Gareth and Matt all took to the field for West over the years and Jean was always there to support them going back to Eric playing in the 60s all the way through to modern times with Gareth and Matt. After a very long stint as a tea lady, Jean moved on to watching the games and rarely missed home or away along with her long serving picnic table and deckchairs and she has supported the lads with with their work off the field too and supported so many club events.

In recent years Jean usually watched the games from the comfort and warmth of her car parked next to the toolshed but still took the time to speak to everyone who passed her way to talk about the game or put the world to rights and when unable to attend a match Jean was always delighted to receive text updates on the individual performances and the chances of winning.

Jean will be fondly remembered by all players, officials and supporters alike who met her at our matches over the years and many messages have come in from other clubs which says so much. It is time to wrap up now because I've just heard Jean tell me not to make a fuss. Jean was a lovely lady who never wanted a fuss about anything and cricket has lost another good un.

Our condolences go out to Mark, Gareth and to grandchildren Matt, Jess and Ellie from everyone at West.
RIP Jean xx
